Making a good track choice

So what makes a good track choice for yr13 music video?

Well you need to demonstrate the following:
1. A variety of shot distances (framing)
2. A good control of editing - and editing to the BEAT
3. Great control of Mise-en-scene
4. A mixture of performance and narrative (not compulsory but best idea)
5. Accurate lipsyncing
6. A convincing Performance - we need to believe they're actually singing!
7. Direct Address
8. A focus on the artist - its is selling the product after all!
9. Different pace throughout your work - some slow parts, some fast parts!

In order to accommodate the above, your song choice is crucial. I'll post a music video above which did well as it was done by one person and the planning and evaluation were amazing but is weak in a few places: watch the boats keep emerging from the girl's head, the performance isn't convincing, there's little variety - it is basically very boring.

The problem here is the TRACK CHOICE! - Think carefully about the track you want to choose before pitching it to me - the track needs some pace but slow enough vocals for you to match...also don't pick your favourite song - you'll hate whatever you choose by the end of the assignment I can assure you!

I would also advise you NOT to choose something current and with an existing music video..that's not to say this is a hard and fast rule but be creative and spend some time thinking about this - SONG CHOICE CAN MAKE OR BREAK YOUR CHANCES OF SUCCESS so take some time and get it right.

In addition, you need to be thinking about creating a GROUP BLOG. This should be set up with a google mail account - choose something you can ALL remember and then give me the URL of your group blog so we can link them to the music video class blog.

Ideally you should have a song choice finalised by the first Weds after we come back - and I mean an AGREED WITH ME song choice!
